The Tourist Accommodation Businesses Association (AEAT) was set up on December 27 2005 and represents tourist establishments or agencies legally authorized to trade in tourist accommodation in the Principality of Andorra.
 
Members of the Association control 1070 registered apartments in whole blocks or private residential blocks, most of which are to be found in the higher parishes of the country (Encamp, Canillo, La Massana and Ordino) where tourist demand is greatest.
 
These apartments have traditionally catered to a family market, with the biggest demand coming from skiers during the winter season from the United Kingdom and Eire, Portugal, France and Spain, who normally stay for one week at a time. The apartments are classified from 1 to 4 stars under the conditions established by the General Law on the Lodging of Tourists  and are supervised by the Ministry of Tourism under various regulations and decrees:

  • NOVEMBRE 2007 : "PROPOSICIÓ DE LLEI DE REGULACIÓ DELS APARTAMENTS MOBLATS PER VACANCES I DE LES EMPRESES QUE ELS EXPLOTEN"
     
  • GENER 2008 : Butlletí del Consell General núm 4/2007 - "Admissió a tràmit i publicació de la Proposició de llei de regulació dels apartaments moblats de vacances i de les empreses que els exploten"
     
  • ABRIL 2008 : Butlletí del Consell General núm 15/2007 - "Criteri del Govern en relació a la "Proposició de llei de regulació dels apartaments moblats per vacances i de les empreses que els exploten"
    • The second objective of the Association is the fight against numerous cases of illegality in the sector and to eliminate unregistered accommodation from the market.

    The third objective of the Association is the promotion of tourism; to reinforce the attractiveness of Andorra as a tourist destination; to increase occupancy and minimize seasonality; and to continue to increase customer satisfaction by offering quality furnished apartments with proper standards and in a controlled manner.

    The Principality of Andorra consists mainly of three large mountain valleys in the form of a Y,
    through which the three biggest rivers flow the North and East Valira Rivers join together in the main
