The mountains in summer

Summer mountain holidays are a revelation. For tourists in Andorra they are one of our best attractions and our holiday apartments allow you to enjoy your summer holidays to the full: Nature, mountain pastures, lakes, rivers, spring water, traditional stone-built architecture, romanesque churches and more: the essence of a unique and historic mountain country that is Andorra.

Many of our apartments can be found far from the city lights and highly suitable for using our well-marked hiking trails, whether you are a keen sportsman or just want a short walk in mountain pastures full of wild flowers, for which Andorra is justly famous, having the largest stock of indigenous species in the whole of Europe. Andorra has also become hugely popular for mountain-biking, holding regular mountain-bike championships at international and world level.

All the parishes in Andorra offer a huge variety of excursions. There are trails for everyone and on some of the longer ones you can even rest overnight for free in one of the mountain refuges dotted all over the Principality.

These stone-built refuges are also part of Andorra’s tourist accommodation and can normally be accessed only on foot. They are open all year round and some them such as those in the Comapedrosa Nature Reserve and the Cortals de Sispony even offer varied activities and will take reservations.

There are also some easier walks and nature trails, known as Vies Ferrades where you can experience mountain forests and fields in their purest form.

Andorra is also ideal for practicing rock-climbing and there are also many man-made rock-climbing surfaces for improving your holds and technique at every level, from beginner to the more experienced.

Another way of enjoying your holiday in Andorra is on horseback. Horse-trekking is one Andorra’s better known sports and there is nothing quite like viewing a beautiful country from the saddle and drifting back in time to a slower and more natural age, surrounded by the sounds of summer.

There are innumerable other summer sports to enjoy whilst staying in your holiday apartment in Andorra but, to cite just a few, how about abseiling, waterfall descents, hot-air ballooning, hydrospeed rafting, fishing, archery, quad-biking, helicopter flights and 4x4 excursions, all of which combine nature and adventure.

The Principality of Andorra consists mainly of three large mountain valleys in the form of a Y,
through which the three biggest rivers flow the North and East Valira Rivers join together in the main
valley of the capital to form the Great Valira River, all of them bordered on each side by high mountain ranges.
These features make for a country of dramatic natural beauty.

Administratively, the Principality of Andorra is divided into seven parishes, which, in order of protocol, are:
Canillo
, Encamp, Ordino, La Massana, Andorra la Vella, Sant Julià de Lòria i Escaldes-Engordany.

Today, the Principality of Andorra has transformed into a tourist country par excellence, offering an enormous range of tourist accommodation, including holiday apartment:
